About Meteorite lab

Meteorite lab SIA combines academic astronomy expertise with hands-on experience of working with businesses. The team is led by an astronomy lecturer at Riga Technical University who has studied under leading specialists in the field, including Nobel laureates.

Our largest project is the Museum of Meteorites, running since 2015. Our expertise covers meteoritics, small Solar System bodies, radio astronomy and VLBI, cosmology and stellar physics, and we have been running sky demonstrations since the late 1980s.

Frequently asked questions

Our company has nothing to do with space. Is this for us?

Yes — these are exactly the companies we help most. We start with your business question and show where satellite data, space technology or space supply chains can bring practical value.

How is pricing set?

Each project is different, so pricing is determined after an initial discussion of your needs and objectives. We then provide a tailored proposal, typically based on either a fixed project fee or an hourly rate.

Our goal is to make space-sector expertise accessible to organizations of all sizes. Whether you are exploring a specific opportunity, evaluating a technical concept, or looking for guidance on entering the space value chain, we can begin with a targeted engagement aligned with your budget and objectives.

Do you work outside Latvia?

Our core clients are in Latvia, but we also work across the Baltics and remotely throughout Europe, in English or Latvian.

Can you assess a stone we found — is it a meteorite?

Yes, we do an initial assessment at the Museum of Meteorites and recommend lab analysis where needed.

Before that, try our free MID test.

How quickly can you organise an event?

Usually within 2–4 weeks. For stargazing we pick the date with the best observing conditions.
